PowerUP Online Overview
The online PowerUP Web sites are being created by America’s Promise and the AOL Foundation. Access to the Web sites is available using a special AOL account. To use one of these PowerUP AOL accounts, volunteers and children will use special registration information (a number and a password) that is included in this packet. This special registration information will assign safety controls, listed below, to each person’s online account. These safety controls have been selected for their age appropriateness. When you help a child register for their PowerUP AOL account, be sure to use a registration number and password that is most appropriate for the child’s grade level.
| Grade | Safety/Access Level | Web Address |
|---|---|---|
| K-2 | No e-mail, no chat, no IMs, Kids Only Web access | www.powerup.org/powerup/primary |
| 3-5 | No e-mail, no chat, no IMs, Kids Only Web access | www.powerup.org/powerup/elementary | 6-8 | No e-mail, no chat, no IMs, Young Teen Web access | www.powerup.org/powerup/middleschool |

Note: You will see many references to AOL@SCHOOL. The special registration was borrowed from another AOL program called AOL@SCHOOL.
Kids will be able to sign on with their PowerUP accounts at home if they have a computer and the AOL software.
