We know that customer support is essential to our success. That's why we are committed to providing you with direct access to your information.

Registering AOL Accounts
  1. Choose New User on the Sign On window.
  2. Select You want to create a new account or additional AOL account. This selection should already be highlighted. Even if the child or adult registering already has an AOL account at home, you should still select this first option. Then enter the Registration Number and Password that corresponds to the child's grade level. This packet also contains a list of the Registration Numbers and their corresponding Passwords.

NOTE: You may not see this screen if you are using AOL software that came pre-installed on the computer. If you do not see this screen, install the AOL software using a CD-ROM and uninstall the software currently on the computer.

  3. Enter the information requested. You may need to help younger children through this step since it requires you to enter information about the center.

First Name: Please do NOT use the child's full name. First name only.
School Name: Enter the name of your PowerUP center.
Address: Enter the address of the PowerUP center.

  4. All children and adults registering for a PowerUP AOL account should review this information. AOL recommends that you read this agreement to the younger children.

  5. Select a screen name. This screen name will be your online name. This screen name will be used with PowerUP and is different from any AOL account screen name that you or the child may be using at home. If the screen name you select has already been taken, you will be asked to select another name. All screen names must be unique.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that you DO NOT allow the child to select their full name or anything that would identify the child offline.

  6. You will receive confirmation when the name you select is available. Be sure to ask the child to write this name down.

  7. Choose a password. Be sure to ask the child to give you their password. A Registration form has been provided to help you collect each child's screen name and password. Each time you sign on, you'll need to enter your screen name and password.

TIP: Passwords should not be the same as the screen name or child's first name.

  8. Each time the child signs on, they should select Guest from the pull-down menu then click Sign On. As they connect to AOL, a window will pop up asking them to enter their screen name and password.
