Reinstalling AOL
  1. When should AOL be reinstalled


    • When instructed to do so by Trilogy Networks Support personnel
    • When New User and/or Existing User options are not available at the login screen
    • When New User and/or Existing User has been replaced by a personal Screen Name

  2. Download AOL install file


    • Click on the Start button
    • Then click on the Communications folder
    • Then click on Internet Explorer
    • In the address field type in ftp.trilogynetworks.com
    • Click the folder named "Support" then click the folder named "AOL"
    • Under the AOL folder click on the file named "AOL50US.EXE"
    • In a moment a prompt to open or save this file appears. Click the option to save as.
    • Click OK
    • A prompt will appear asking were to save the file. Save the file to the Desktop by clicking on the Save In pull down window at the top and choosing the option label Desktop.
    • Click the Save button
    • The install file will now be downloaded to the Desktop

    Note: Depending upon the internet connection speed the download could take several minutes.

  3. Install AOL


    • Close any programs currently open
    • Double click on the downloaded file. It should be named AOL50US.EXE and it will be located on the Desktop.
    • The program will prompt to install New Member or Current Member. Choose New Member and click the Next button.
    • On the next screen choose the option for Expert Install
    • In the dialog box type in the following C:\Program Files\AOL
    • Click OK
    • Click the Next button
    • Click Yes to the prompt that this directory already exists
    • AOL will copy its files to the hard drive at this time. When it is done AOL will be started automatically.

  4. Finished installing AOL


    • AOL is installed
    • Pull down the option Select Screen Name you will have options for New User, Existing User, and Guest

    Caution: Remember when signing into AOL with an existing Screen Name use the guest option. That way the New User and the Existing Member option will not be lost.
